Once I decided to finally get down to it and put up my photography site I spent a fair bit of time researching other photographers' sites to get ideas for designing mine. During this research I discovered a few things that I'm still not sure about. However, there was one that sort of annoyed me, so, I thought why not ask you guys. I think 3 people so far have read this blog so I'm not going to hold my breath for any comments on this (...sigh...).
Out of all the sites I visited, and that's around 200 or so, almost all of them had photographer bios/about me pages written in the third person. It's obvious that the photographer wrote the bio, but why do it in the third person?
Are there anonymous writers out there who write special pieces regarding a photographer's basic background? Does this method of writing a bio really enhance ones professionalism in the eyes of prospective clients? I'd understand if it was a bio actually written by someone else, say for an article about the photographer, and then the photographer uses that as his/her bio, but a self written third person bio...

Bios in the Third Person

I prefer bios/about me pages be written in the first person. It's more personal and friendly. I don't want to feel like the person was too busy to write their own bio. I also don't think it makes it more professional.
