The Work of Jonathan Harris

This is a post about the work of one Jonathan Harris whom I discovered through the TED talk he gave in March of 2007, the video of which is below. If you haven't heard of TED before, you should really check out some of their videos on talks given by the some of the most amazing people of our time.

Jonathan creatively combines the elements of computer science, anthropology, visual art and storytelling, to designs systems to explore and explain the human world. Take the time and go through the links after the jump and explore his work, it's really worth it.

The following is the TED video where he presents and talks about his work.

If you can't see the video in your RSS feed, just use this link.

Below are a few links to Jonathan's main site and those of some of his projects:

- Jonathan's site Number 27 is where you'll find his work portfolio, biography, and other information.

- His newest project is The Whale Hunt. The Whale Hunt is an experiment in human storytelling through the use of a new interface. The story is told through 3,214 pictures taken within a nine day period.

- The 10x10 site ('ten by ten') is "an interactive exploration of the words and pictures that define the time. The result is an often moving, sometimes shocking, occasionally frivolous, but always fitting snapshot of our world taken every hour."

- Lovelines is "an exploration of human desire. Through large scale blog analysis, Lovelines illuminates the topography of the emotional landscape between love and hate, as experienced by countless normal humans keeping personal online journals."

- We Feel Fine is an exploration of human emotion on a global scale. Harvesting human feelings since August 2005 and portraying them in an amazing interface.
