A little something happened to me the other day that made me want to write the following as a kind of gratitude I guess. Also, with the holiday season upon us, I thought it kind of appropriate.
They say that good deeds, admiring your peers, talking good of people, giving a random compliment that's heartfelt, and all that other feelgood, optimistic, herbal tea drinking, proverb quoting, incense burning, hippie shit is actually good for the soul and might one day come back to you ten fold. You know, the whole Karma thing.
Please don't get me wrong. I have nothing against any of that stuff, nor am I saying that there's anything wrong with any of it. I actually agree with most of it, except the herbal tea thing, just tastes like dirt to me. I'm also not seeking praise, admiration, and all that other stuff for any reason whatsoever. I'm actually very uncomfortable with all that. (continued after the jump)
The point of my rambling is, if you have something nice to say about someone, or if you feel some sort of gratitude towards them, whether it's to their face or someone else, you should take the opportunity and say it. For the person on the receiving end of the admiration or thanks, it's like a little ego boost that we all know, however vain, we all need once in a while. It's like the feeling you get when you get a sincere thank you from someone you helped with some insignificant deed, then realized, to them, it actually meant more than you thought it might.
So the next time you see, hear, or experience something worth a compliment or thank you, make it a sincere and heartfelt one. Look the person straight in the eyes or eye, and thank or compliment them with the kind of sincerety that they would never have expected...
